Untitled
[edit]I've moved the following from the article about Texas State University-San Marcos:
- San Marcos is the only habitat for the endangered San Marcos salamander.

Outlet Malls
[edit]Where's the article about the Outlet Malls? They're a big tourist attraction and even gain some more visitors than the Alamo.
As of 2004, the outlet malls are the 4th ranked tourist attraction in Texas, overall, with the Alamo, San Antonio's riverwalk, and 6 Flags over Texas (in Dallas) being #s 1, 2 and 3. However, the Alamo and the Riverwalk are literally a couple blocks away from each other and most people who visit one will visit the other. See http://www.travel.state.tx.us/VisitorsTopAttractions.aspx --studerby 22:19, 19 July 2006 (UTC) Yea but can we put that fact in the article? Falconleaf
appropriate linking policy
[edit]Someone keeps adding a link to http://www.78666.com/ as an "external link". That site isn't appropriate in a wikipedia article, under the WP:EL policy. studerby 13:03, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
Created redirect
[edit]I tried to find this by searching "san marcos, tx" and got nothing, so I have created a redirect from San Marcos, TX. 71.221.49.24 02:36, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Wireless San Marcos
[edit]We need to incorporate information about the upcoming Wireless San Marcos project into the article. — C M B J 05:38, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
I passed by San Marcos going towards Austin and I took this pic of San Marcos. I don't know where to put it so I'll leave it here for someone to put it on the article. thanx, -AMAPO (talk) 06:27, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
More detail of San Marcos history, geology, and attractions.
[edit]I want more history of San Marcos uploaded. There is an enormous amount of history about this beautiful city.
-It's the gateway to the hill country.
-President LBJ went to school at Texas State University.
-It's a geologically interesting place with the escarpment and fault line running right down the middle of the city. (History and geological maps should be provided.)
-Nearby is the Devil's backbone, a beautiful scenic hill country drive down Ranch Road 12. (A link to a Devil's backbone page should be provided and created if the page doesn't already exist.
-The courthouse has been rebuilt. It burnt down to the ground many years ago.
-The recent haunted building that burnt down that was featured on a list of haunted buildings in the south.
-Many Native American tribes lived in the area and there are archaelogical digs occurring at present.
-Wonder World (More pictures and details about this attraction should be provided.)
-The river itself. (More pictures and detail should be provided about the river.)
-The San Marcos Springs/Aquarena Springs/Spring Lake. (More detailed information should be provided.
-The endangered species. (More detail should be provided about their conservation, current status, etc...)
-The old Camino Real and it's route through San Marcos and the historic missions located here and nearby should be detailed.
-Much more detail and history of the city should be provided including the first settlement and then successive settlements into the area.

parrots
[edit]San Marcos has (or used to, back in the 1990s) a breeding population of feral parrots. I am informed that although other American towns and cities have similar colonies, San Marcos is the furthest north, as the birds are of course originally from the tropics. Is this worth mentioning? 165.91.64.201 (talk) 02:59, 14 April 2010 (UTC)RKH
Article Evaluation
[edit]The lead section is understandable but I feel it misses to state the key points that the article will cover and instead it is biased and promotes the city. It feels like I'm being advertise on how great the city is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ERamos57 (talk • contribs) 16:50, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
Demographics
[edit]A recent article released by the University Star had more up to date statistics in regards to the average income per capita and percentage of individuals below the poverty line. According to this article which cited its source of info from a 2013 U.S. Census Bureau, the average income per capita is $15,916. Also from 2009-2013 the poverty level was said to be 37.3 percent. One main reason to this was due to the rising living cost but stagnant wages. While it is a predominantly college town, perhaps more up to date statistics could generate a better portrayal of the city. JonathanARodriguez (talk) 02:57, 25 September 2015 (UTC)

Nauseating
[edit]Can we possibly not have articles written by the Chamber of Commerce? This thing is an abomination of opinions stated as facts and trivialities stated as if they were relevant. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:A601:AC5:2E00:D167:4FFF:5214:E185 (talk) 19:30, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
