Place of birth
[edit]Can anyone throw definitive light on whether Wire was born in Blackwood, or Tredegar ? Thank you,
Derek R Bullamore 21:38, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
- The BBC state both, Blackwood and Tredegar, so I don't think it is possible to be definitive. Hiding Talk 22:21, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
- Tredegar is a much nicer place to be born :D 213.121.151.174 (talk) 21:30, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
There's lots of potentially controversial content here - BLP dispute
[edit]And there's only a single citation in the whole article. Thoughts? The thing about wishing death on Michael Stipe, for example, is totally unsourced.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 14:48, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
- It's true though. Was reported in a number of sources. Nicky has said it was part of venting his grief after their original manager died. Is there any other reason why the BLP disputed tag is on, because if not I'd prefer it removed. If there is anything in particular you want sourced, just tag it and give me a reasonable time to source it. Hiding T 16:39, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'd imagine that most of this is true, but even if it is true, controversial material such as some of the stuff on this page needs sourcing per the policy set out at WP:BLP.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 16:36, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- It would help if you added {{fact}} to specific stuff that you were afraid of, or moved it from the article to the talk page. Like I say, I don't mind sourcing and I have a vast cuttings file on the manics up until the late 90's, so I should be able to source most things. Hiding T 22:32, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- Would a recording of him saying it work as a source? http://youtube.com/watch?v=p1RnQj0F60Y El Juno (talk) 20:58, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- I've added some references, including for the Stipe statement, but I can't find references for a lot of the quotes, which are controversial. If they can't be verified, they will need to be removed.--BelovedFreak 12:26, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
- The sourced quotes should be moved to WikiQuote. The unsourced ones should be removed. I can probably source the early 90's quotes if they are sourcable, FWIW, given time. There's a lot of clippings to go through. Hiding T 12:35, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Place of birth revisited
[edit]The article now says Llanbadoc, although the supposed supporting cite doesn’t. The closest it gets to saying anywhere is Blackwood, Caerphilly. A net search throws up a fair few, not very reliable, sources that do say Llanbadoc, but they all appear to be copies from here. Does anyone have an RS for Llanbadoc?
