In paragraph 4, it describes Yolanda as her friend and boutique manger (not the exact words but you get the point) however she was also the manager of Selena’s fan club at one point. DarthNerdy12 (talk) 23:36, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Many sources say that Selena was born in Lake Jackson. Yes, it was her hometown, but she couldn't be born there because the hospital she was born in was in Freeport, not Lake Jackson. Therefore, I don't think the article would consider Lake Jackson to be her birthplace. Chidie345 (talk) 01:32, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Chidie345: The source you provided states that Selena was born in Freeport, not that the hospital where she was born happened to be in Freeport, as you implied. A higher-quality source or additional sources confirming that the hospital was in Freeport or naming the hospital would be better, otherwise, this single source does not satisfy this fringe theory. I won't undo your edit, I believe we can discuss it here and reach a consensus. Best – jona✉16:46, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies for the delayed response. According to the first source from the Houston Chronicle, it states: including time in Lake Jackson, where Selena was born, it does specify that she was born at Freeport Community Hospital. However, it does not state that she was born in Freeport, Texas, but in Lake Jackson. There was a hospital, formerly known as Freeport Community Hospital, located in Lake Jackson, which might explain the confusion. In any case, two sources (which contradict each other since the second source states she was born in Freeport, Texas, while the first states she was born in Lake Jackson, Texas) are not sufficient to meet the guidelines against fringe theories. Sorry I didn't respond. I was on my phone and was on FANDOM creating pages on one of its Wikis. Anyways, I didn't know. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Chidie345 (talk) 21:54, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This template must be followed by a complete and specific description of the request, that is, specify what text should be removed and a verbatim copy of the text that should replace it. "Please change X" is not acceptable and will be rejected; the request must be of the form "please change X to Y".
The edit may be made by any autoconfirmed user. Remember to change the |answered=no parameter to "yes" when the request has been accepted, rejected or on hold awaiting user input. This is so that inactive or completed requests don't needlessly fill up the edit requests category. You may also wish to use the {{ESp}} template in the response. To request that a page be protected or unprotected, make a protection request.
Also, I would like to add that in 2024 President Biden awarded Selena the Medal of Arts of 2023. Making her the only deceased person to ever win that award.
Partly done: National Medal of Arts added. I cannot reconcile the various sales numbers to do the other part; I suspect the counting may be mixing up domestic/international sales or perhaps different distribution formats, but I have to leave it to someone more familiar with the music business to look into. Following a community discussion, it was agreed to revise Selena's reported sales figure to 18 million. This adjustment reflects concerns that prior estimates circulated by various news outlets appeared inflated by her father and label and were unsupported by credible citations. Sales figures should be referenced exclusively from authoritative sources such as Nielsen SoundScan or, when applicable, the Recording Industry Association of America, as well as other recognized sales tracking platforms.
