Proposal
[edit]I propose a new box Template:Disputeabout, where a brief message about the topic of the dispute can be added. Often, long articles are tagged as disputed, just because one subtopic is disputed. A brief message about the nature of the dispute would greatly help the casual user. E.g. {{Disputeabout|the number of deaths}} would look like
The factual accuracy of part of this article is disputed. The dispute is about the number of deaths. |

- Good idea, but it should be "the factual accuracy of part of this article". Rd232 10:42, 29 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Looks strange
[edit]Why is everything on the Template page, including the instructions, included in articles, too (e.g. Operation Sundevil)? –Mysid(t) 10:59, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
What does the date parameter mean?
[edit]I wonder what the date parameter means? The date of what? Does it mean the first time there was a dispute? Does it mean the latest time someone agreed? Does it mean the date that the "Dispute about" transclusion was added? Does it make sense to update it? I am writing this because someone just updated the date in such a transclusion and I cannot find any information about what that signifies. The documentation does not say what the date parameter means. --Jhertel (talk) 18:45, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
- When the template was added. So this should not be updated, really. Debresser (talk) 20:22, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
Linking to Talk page section
[edit]I have not been able to find a way to link to a Talk page section.
In the code given here: {{Dispute about|what|talk page section name}}
, in the parameter: talk page section name
I've tried:
- talk page section name NameOfSection
- talk page section NameOfSection
- NameOfSection
- talk page section name |NameOfSection
- talk page section name =NameOfSection
And now I've give up. Could anyone clarify/edit the advice here on how to do it?
And if you can, would you please just click through to Chromium and change the template I've added there? Everything is in it bar whatever magic code actually turns the NameOfSection bit there into something that will make the Talk link in it link to the section NameOfSection rather than simply to the top of the Talk page.
