Crappy merge
[edit]That was a crappy merge - I turned two clear, readable entries into one more detailed but turgid one. Anyone want to copy edit it? Time I went to bed. Tannin 15:59 Apr 12, 2003 (UTC)
Question: can they fly? 198.142.39.219 03:30, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yes. Anaxial (talk) 17:38, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
Sub-species
[edit]Do we really need to list all the sub-species on this page? It does create a rather vast list, and the information would surely better belong on the pages for the individual species. Anaxial (talk) 17:38, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Question on phylogeny
[edit]It seems that tinamous are actually ratites ([1]), while ostriches are an outgroup. Should I edit this page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Falconfly (talk • contribs) 09:40, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Probable error

Split
[edit]I think I would slit this article into a text adn a list of species. Casliber (talk · contribs) 01:10, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
- I have already created List of tinamidae, I just haven't done what I normally do on lists, (range). speednat (talk) 01:53, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Collaboration
[edit]Much of the content in the article was added by User:Speednat, mainly from HBW and a couple of other sources. I do not have access to these sources, nor most others regarding the family. I have done a fair amount of copy-editing, structuring and adding images (possibly too many) from Commons, but have not been able to add much textual content. The article contains several unreferenced statements and needs work on referencing as well as adding content where there are gaps in coverage. Maias (talk) 01:03, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
- Hi, I have access to the HBW. ¿Which segments of the text need references? Ornithodiez (talk) 02:59, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Ornithodiez - thanks for the offer. I cannot give you a simple answer. I think the article probably needs someone who has HBW to hand going through the text, picking up the unreffed statements and seeing if they are covered in HBW. Some may need to be deleted at some point if they cannot be backed up. Maias (talk) 05:16, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
- A minor style thing needing a decision. Some author initials are separated by spaces, some are not, needs consistency. I've trimmed the map and fixed a couple of refs Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:07, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Jim. I don't have any personal preference. If you have a preferred style, go with that. Maias (talk) 05:16, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
- OK, I've settled for spaced with full stops, I've also removed semicolons from Smith; & Jones type refs.
- Forced image sizes are unpopular because they override user settings. My inclination is to remove them all unless there's an obvious reason for not doing so, but I thought it best to raise here first Jimfbleak - talk to me? 10:05, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
- Fine by me. Maias (talk) 12:00, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

- Most of the information that I added I gleaned from HBW, I also used bits of other books; however if there is any material that needs referencing please let me know. I always thought I added too many references. I have tried to pull information from the original sources ie from sources referenced in HBW, however a lot of those sources are foreign and I am not multi-lingual.

- I have updated and cleaned up all the references into the same style. I have also added dead link templates to the Tinamou Research Group as I cannot seem to find it anymore. When I get to school on Monday, I will see if I can reference all of the facts attributed to them to other sources so that I can just delete them. I am excited to see so much work get done on this page as I felt that it was way under represented. speednat (talk) 19:42, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
