[edit]Wondering how to edit this U.S. County Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Counties standards might help.
"The third largest"
[edit] I placed a "vague" tag on that phrase, about the main bodies of water, since "in area" is easiest to estimate but "in volume" is probably more impactful & more stable. (I think; it could be interesting to work out what restrictions suffice to guarantee it. I feel like the (extremely probable) condition that horizontal cross-section area never increases as depth increases probably does that....)

- In practice, Griffy Lake is definitely smaller than both Monroe and Lemon lakes by both of these measures; it's also bigger than any other body of water in the county by both measures. I don't want to bother finding a source for that fact at the moment, although the surface areas can be easily checked on Google Maps. -- Vmenkov (talk) 06:17, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
"Incident" in history section...
[edit]I've just removed this content from the history section:
"On July 4th, 2020, Monroe County was the scene of a controversial incident where a resident was allegedly the victim of two individuals who have been charged with battery, criminal confinement and intimidation."
There are several issues I see with this:
1) Dubious notability: While such a crime is of course deeply upsetting for the victims and their loved ones, is it really of sufficient notability to be included in the larger (more than two centuries long now) history of an entire county?
2) Recentism: Again, see above. I'm sure in the past 202 years, there have been numerous crimes of equal or greater severity in this county. Are we gonna detail all of them here?
3) Sourcing: A redacted police report doesn't qualify as a good secondary source. This is largely a moot point though, because even if one does find a few local news stories about this, I still don't think it would qualify for this section.
Of course the section on this county's history does have a lot of room for expansion, but not with content like this! -2003:CA:871E:36FA:E50C:70C0:ADF3:EAC3 (talk) 13:58, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
