Anal Blast

[edit]

Yeah, there's no way I was going to leave that bullshit about Anal Blast untouched. Don Decker is completely unacknowledged and it clearly implied that Joey & Paul formed AB for a laugh before they got down to the serious business of making angry mallcore led by a frontman who managed to single-handedly fuck up an entire teenage generation's understanding of what metal vocals are.

Height

[edit]

Anybody know how tall he is when you see the pictures of him with Metallica at download hes like a foot shorter than all of them lol —Preceding unsigned comment added by King Alaric (talkcontribs) 20:54, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He's like 5'3", not that this belongs in the this talk page at all. Talk pages are to discuss improvements that could be made on the article. REZTER TALK ø 20:58, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Biased info

Images

[edit]

For some apparent reason, the Wiki all of the sudden became lifeless with no pictures at all. I took the liberty of adding a name image which i found. <--PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE THAT IMAGE (Please change it). Also i found an image of joey at the drumset. later thought tell me that the picture is not revealing enough to his identity and appearance. If you guys can find a picture that is not very common and looks cool, feel free to replace it.—Preceding unsigned comment added by MrJoeyJordison (talkcontribs)

I removed both of the images. Images on Wikipedia need to be free, and can only be unfree images when it would be impossible for another image to be created. In this case, another free image could be created. Also, images are added in Wikipedia are added for informative purposes not aesthetics. --Wildnox(talk) 20:50, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Fine, ill add one for informative purposes, damn guys wake up a lil. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MrJoeyJordison (talkcontribs)
I removed the new image. It fails the fair use criteria and, from the looks of the image, not a free image.--Wildnox(talk) 22:40, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Playing with KoЯn

[edit]

This should definetely be interesting, as Slipknot and KoЯn feuded in the past. Looks like that's been made up. He'll be playing the drum parts that Terry Bozzio came up with on KoЯn's upcoming 8th studio album, so he'd better get to practicing! He'll be on the Family Values Tour 2007; check the page to find out when they're coming to your town. URFG 15:51, 21 April 2007 (UTC)URFG[reply]

Kabuki actors don't wear masks. also, it's not kabuki in anything. the face paint is wrong. fix it.

Credit

[edit]

That article doesnt give Joey all the credit in the world he deserves. Also, Joey has no tattoos (the only member of the band to do so), therefore it is incorrect to say that all the Slipknot members have the Tribal 'S' tattooed on them, in fact not all of them other than Joey have it. Slipknot are the greatest band of all time.

is there any actual documentation of his death? Any news article, press release, anything? I understand that if this just occured today nothing official would have yet to be made let alone sent out. But how does someone filling out a biography and Myspace find out about it before hand?????

Cymbal Dilemma

[edit]

Joey actually uses alot of cymbals. He does not use stagg cymbals but uses Paiste cymbals instead. This once said it but now has been reverted to him using 3 stagg cymbals. Please change the section back to his previous state (When he uses Paiste cymbals). Thank you. micoolio101 (talk)

No bullshit anymore, please

[edit]

This is an online encyclopaedia, and not a fanboy forum for fanboys to write their uninformed and biased POV's. And nobody cares if you think he's hot or what's your fauvorite band. This is a discussion for the content of the article, not your personal preferences.

Anyway, I'm going to remove that completely pointless reference of how fast Joey is rumoured to be with his feet. Especially since it makes no sense. First you're talking about how Joey and Roadrunner United, and then just out of the blue you get the following comment: "He is rumoured to be able to play 27 beats in 4 seconds on his double pedal drum kit." - Spade

Quote:

"== Former Guitarist? ==

I thought Joey is the guiatist for Murderdolls . . . why does it say he's a former member? WereWolf 15:50, 1 August 2006 (UTC)"[reply]

Being a guitarist, is being a former member of the band.
I think Joey's ability in the double bass drum should be mentioned, I mean, look at Flo Mournier's article, he's less famous than Jordison and his skill at the double bass drum is mentioned. Cancerbero 8
Flo also doesn't have a billion drooling fanboys that know little to nothing of drumming. Not saying Joey's bad, but Flo has that mention for a reason: they aren't a 'popular' band on the level of Slipknot and the people who listen to Cryptopsy are likely to be able to judge drumming better than Slipknot fans.
Wikipedia is not a place for judging. There are too many judgements in this article. That is why there is a POV box at the top. Noit 05:02, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'd suggest that Flo is renowned by DRUMMERS for his speed. Go to any drum section in a music forum, mention Joey being a) fast or b) the best ever and watch everyone jump down your throat

How is this factual?

Ministry

[edit]

Ive removed the mention that Joey is disliked by some Ministry fans, this was for some unknown reason in the section about his Mask. (Zephyr 17:50, 15 December 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Kabuki mask?

[edit]

Being that actors in kabuki only very rarely, if ever, wear masks, I am curious as to the origin of this kabuki mask, and its appearance, if a nice clear picture can be found. Is it a Noh mask? Is it a mask made to look like kabuki makeup? Or is it completely unrelated to actual kabuki performances, and only sort of looks like some stereotypical conception of what kabuki makeup looks like? Thank you. LordAmeth 23:45, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Citations, please!!!

[edit]

"While in high school, Jordison attended a jazz school and hung out with cousin Steve Allan White. This helped profoundly to improve his drumming ability, which has since made him become the top rated drummer by music media across the world." Can we get a citataion on this? I don't know about you, but this to me sounds like something written by some mallcore fanboy ignoring NPOV. I'm considering editing it unitl someone comes up with a reliable source to validate it. likelightoflies 09:05, 17 Januray 2007 (UTC)

And in the box says that he worked with Anal Blast, yet I don't see any citation. It doesn't even appear in the biograhy here!!! --Sheish 6 Sheish 22:51, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

does joey plays bass guitar?? in which band? Roadrunner United

Genres

[edit]

I added Nu Metal, Heavy Metal, Death Metal, and Grindcore to the infobox. The first two are obvious based on him being in one of the defining Nu Metal bands, and all of his bands being in some form of heavy metal. The second two, on the otherhand, I think may meat some resistence, but I placed there due to his involvement in Modifidious and Anal Blast.--Wildnox(talk) 21:56, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm also suggesting that the genre might be better shortend to Heavy Metal alone, since all of the genres currently listed are subgenres of Heavy Metal. --Wildnox(talk) 21:58, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
But what about grindcore? grindcore ain't any kind of metal, grindcore is punk. Perhaps is a punk genere, August 25, 2007 (UTC)

Drums

[edit]

Jordison's drum set breakdown has been added a few times over the past few weeks, but has never been sourced (though still not properly) until its latest re-add, though I'm still not entirely convinced of reliability. I would like to know why people feel it is necessarry to include such info. This site should give a biography of Jordision and help people learn about him, not include every known fact about the man. I doubt people are coming to this site looking for the model of Jordison's clamp. I think it verges on WP:TRIVIA to include it. If somebody is that into drumming and wishes to discover this info, I'm sure they can find it on other sites. So does anybody have a good reason to include this info? Blackngold29 15:16, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The info came from the manufactures websitesand both stated that this was in fact the set up for hi latest kit, so Im pretty confident as far as reliablity goes... As for if we need this or not in the article, sure people could find it somewhere else but atleast for me (and many others to I would belive) the wiki is becoming more and more an alternative to google. Also pretty much all other members in slipknot have a equipment section so why not Joey? Roger Workman (talk) 16:55, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What if we included links to the sources in the "External links" section? I like the "alternative to Google", but I think it just seems cluttered when it's a list model numbers. As for the other members, not very many of their equiptment sections are sourced, so I don't know if they can be trusted. Blackngold29 17:03, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good points. I agree that it looks somewhat clutered with all the dimension etc, but the equipment section could be close to the bottom of the page so most people dont have to scroll through it all the time. And if the equipment sections of the other members is arent sourced rally doesnt consern the Joey Jordison article. As far as putting the links in the external links.. Maybe, maybe not? A third opinion would be great here. Roger Workman (talk) 17:28, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New idea: What if we added a few sentences of prose to the Slipknot section? That way we could give an overview of what he uses, but it wouldn't be the long list of model numbers. I just remembered I wanted to add something about him going upside-down while he plays too, we could put that in as well. How's that sound? Blackngold29 21:22, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you can source it then go for it :P Jakisbak (talk) 23:53, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
He does it on both Disasterpieces and Voliminal: Inside the Nine and I heard an interview where he talked about falling out once, I'll have to look for it. It'd be cool to have an explination of who came up with the idea or how the drums are secured to his platform, but there's enough to say something. Blackngold29 23:57, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Definately, the video of the drum solo on disasterpieces is around anyway, its simply amazing. Jakisbak (talk) 00:39, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I know it's been a while since this has been discussed, but there have been many edits to a newly added Equiptment section as of late, none of which have included sources. As I stated above I am not opposed to adding the info, though I prefer it is as prose, as long as it is cited to a reliable source. I have limited knowledge on drums and I am afraid that people will simply come along and add whatever they want to to the section if there are no sources to back them up. Thank you. blackngold29 17:31, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Satyricon

[edit]

there is absolutely no way anyone from Slipknot was even remotely influenced by Satyricon (proved by their music insimilarities), also there is no proof that i can find in my personal research, nor is there any references to such located in the article itself.

AeturnalNarcosis (talk) 12:48, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well if you read what you removed correctly you would have noticed that it said:
"Jordison's dedication to music led to performances and work with many other bands over his career"
Not:
"Jordison was influenced by Satyricon."
He drummed for Satyricon in 2004 for a short period and it is backed up by this source... [2] in the main body. Please in future, do not removed sourced information. REZTER TALK ø 13:46, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review

[edit]
This review is transcluded from Talk:Joey Jordison/GA2. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.

In the gear section, there are mistakes. If you go to http://www.pearldrum.com/Artists/Drumset-Artists.aspx?id=16, you will find that joey uses 2 p-1000 pedal, not a iron cobra double, and that he uses a 14x6.5" referance snare. Ive seen slipknot live so ive seen the drums he uses and ive been playing the drums for years so i know what im talking about. You can also include that he uses Pearl Referance drums with a Piano Black with Slipknot S and gold hardware, which is also found on his page on pearldrum.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.24.173.72 (talkcontribs) 27 August 2009

Your actual Good Article review follows.

GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose): b (MoS):
Prose issues are bellow. I think the lead could stand to be a bit longer. And can the gear list be made multi-column to save some space?
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
I've not yet looked over sources, but the formatting looks fine. On the surface, the article does not appear to have any OR issues. (Update: Sourcing issues below.)
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
In terms of prose, this article is strictly biographical in nature. A more comprehensive article would most likely detail his musical style (drumming style, etc.), and critical reception of him as a musician. I saw that the last reviewer noted a lack of details on his personal life, but I understand your response. This is a short article, but looking around at other musician GAs, there are plenty of this length, some with only biography and some with multiple things. For GA, what's here is probably fine, but going forward I'd suggest looking into other aspects of Jordison's career.
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
It would seem you have some conflicts regarding the gear list. Since what musicians play probably changes occasionally, listing the "standard equipment" detailed in this interview is a good idea.
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
As the previous reviewer said, a closer headshot would be nice, but not needed.
  7. Overall: Failed because issues were not addressed within two weeks.
    Pass/Fail:

I'll be back later to talk sources. For now, some writing issues to consider:

Lead:

  • The meaning of the "#1" is a bit confusing until you reach the Slipknot section. Any way you can clarify what that means here?
  • How is Jordison's relative height to other members of Slipknot important?

Early life:

  • The whole first paragraph feels choppy, with a lot of short sentences.
  • 2nd paragraph: Did the band only release their demos after all the lineup-changes had stopped?
  • 3rd paragraph: What exactly is a "Sinclair garage"?
  • 3rd paragraph: Jordison was also involved in a band that was formed partly as a joke and called Anal Blast with Paul Gray. This sentence is awkward to read. Can it be rearranged?
  • I tried to change this myself, although it isn't ideal: Jordison was also involved in a band with Paul Gray, formed mostly as a joke called Anal Blast. --gakon5 (talk)

Slipknot:

  • 1st paragraph: Can you expand on what "lost" means? Was Jordison lost in life?
  • 1st paragraph: Clarify that early Slipknot held its meetings at the Sinclar garage.
  • 1st paragraph: First to arrive and last to leave... practice?

Murderdolls:

  • While touring Ozzfest in 2001—while supporting Slipknot's album Iowa—Jordison... Reword this to not have two "while"s.
  • My version: While touring Ozzfest in 2001 to support Slipknot's recently-released album Iowa --gakon5 (talk)
  • How does the band "use" horror movies to inspire lyrics? Is it the themes, or the action, or what?
  • Where did the Murderdolls return from in 2002?

Other musical endeavours:

  • 3rd paragraph: Expand on what Roadrunner United is. In the second sentence you mention "the album" but have given no context for what this album is.
  • Jordison wrote and produced music for RU "as a team captian", but did he also perform drums as a part of his role as "team captain"?

Citations:

  • The whole second paragraph of the Slipknot section is unreferenced, as indicated by the {{fact}} tag already there.
  • Jordison's filmography should be cited, most likely with something from IMDB.
  • What is that weird sentence tacked-on at the end of Equipment doing? It's confusing, oddly formatted, and has no source.
  • Source #6[3] This review of a Slipknot album doesn't well affirm that Jordison is "one of the most dedicated members of the band."
  • Source #7[4] ...and is reportedly "the first to arrive and the last to leave." This suggests that someone else said this about Jordison, when this was actually Jordison talking about himself.
  • That whole sentence puts Jordison in a more positive light than you can back up with either of those sources.
  • Source #8[5] Link doesn't seem to lead anywhere useful.
  • Source #10[6] Acey Slade isn't mentioned in this article. It looks like the following source covers that, though.
  • Source #11[7] If you mean to link to the official biography, fix the link, which currently goes to the Wikipedia mirror.
  • Source #15[8] Later in the year, Manson revealed that Jordison had been working with him on his new album The Golden Age of Grotesque. Jordison had in fact worked on guitars but the track did not appear on the album. Can you better source the second sentence? The article linked only says the tracks "may or may not" be on the album, as this was before the album was released.
  • Source #25[9] According to the linked article, Jordison set a record as the "only artist to play the festival multiple times in four different high-profile bands," not "the first musician ever to perform on five different occasions at the Download Festival in England."
  • Source #30 Your source to Drummer could stand to be more filled out. I can't even find what this magazine is online.
  • WP:RS: The only sites I found sketchy were MusicOMH[10] and The Gauntlet[11] However, each have conducted interviews with major bands, and MOMH has been around for a long time. At the same time, the MOHM review is being used to cite the idea that Jordison is the most dedicated member of Slipknot. You could stand to have better backing for that statement.

I plan on copyediting the article myself, since it's got a number of minor issues not related to content. --gakon5 (talk) 21:41, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Added source issues. I will scrutinize the reliability of each source... tomorrow. Most of them seem fine, though. I will also get to that copyedit tomorrow. --gakon5 (talk) 02:19, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've said all I can for now. Just waiting on some changes. --gakon5 (talk) 01:03, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's been nearly two weeks and nothing has happened to this article, so it will be failed for now. When you seek to improve the article in the future, hopefully this will be a good reference. --gakon5 (talk) 04:40, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deletions

I added information yesterday about Joey winning the best metal drummer award hosted by Drummers Magazine and his current nomination by Rhythm magazine as the best drummer for the past 25 years. Also what he said about Slipknot's future. Took me a long time to get references from Roadrunner's website, Slipknot's blogs, YouTube etc. and to date them to make the article verifiable. Checklist

[edit]

GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

  1. Is it reasonably well written?
    A. Prose quality:
    B. MoS compliance:
The lead section does not summarize the article correctly.
How is it now? CrowzRSA 22:28, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  1. Is it factually accurate and verifiable?
    A. References to sources:
    B. Citation of reliable sources where necessary:
    C. No original research:
  2. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. Major aspects:
While in the infobox has a list of genres, the article does not have a musical style section. What about a section to his playing techniques?
The Music career section pretty much covers that CrowzRSA 22:28, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    It is your final response?--Cannibaloki 15:08, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

    B. Focused:
There is a bit of negativity in the second paragraph of the Slipknot section.
I don't see any. Can you give an exaple? CrowzRSA 22:28, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It seems to me that Jordison's work with Slipknot resumes in forcing the band to cancel their tours due to his health problems.--Cannibaloki 15:08, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That just explains his injuries and how it effected the band; what else should there be? CrowzRSA 16:43, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  3. Is it neutral?
    Fair representation without bias:
Aside from "he's an amazing producer" without much explanation or relevance, everything looks okay.
That's a critics view on his production, I don't understan how it's really bias.
    Vocalist Jamie Hopper is a music critic?--Cannibaloki 15:08, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, but he's a musician so isn't his point of view significant. All it does is give an opinion on Jordison's production quality. CrowzRSA 16:43, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  4. Is it stable?
    No edit wars, etc:
The lack of a section describing Jordison's musical style is an open door for vandalism.
  5. Does it contain images to illustrate the topic?
    A. Images are copyright tagged, and non-free images have fair use rationales:
    B. Images are provided where possible and appropriate, with suitable captions:
  6. Overall:
    Pass or Fail:
    On hold for a week.--Cannibaloki 16:36, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Failed due to nominator's lack of cooperation in improving the article. The article remains as it was, underdeveloped.--Cannibaloki 14:56, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Jason Arnopp explains that its because one of their logos is a barcode. I don't see why explaining it should be in the article, plus it doesn't say anything about Joey's number... (80)
  • "He is a co-founder and the primary drummer for the Grammy Award-winning heavy metal band Slipknot..." He is the co-founder? Why primary drummer, there are two as in Kylesa? Is "Grammy Award-winning" necessary?
  • The lead has been re-written.
  • "He is considered one of the most dedicated members of the band and is involved in most elements of the band including writing, mixing and production..." Not according the source, which said "he co-handles production responsibilities on nearly every Slipknot release [...]".
  • Done - I just deleted it.
  • "Each member of Slipknot is assigned a number; Joey was assigned "#1"." Why?
  • Explained in first comment.

Header Picture

[edit]

That is a terrible, terrible, awful picture to use of Joey for his main photo at the top of the page. There are millions of pictures of this guy out there. Someone please pick a better one.Zdawg1029 (talk) 00:15, 13 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Telegram

[edit]

The singing telegram thing was from a satire piece put out by metalsucks. It's not real. Jeez. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.110.229.140 (talk) 22:27, 6 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There are several sources making this claim, so unless you produce anything to the contrary, it stays in. Zdawg1029 (talk) 05:03, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The telegram piece was absolute satire. Zdawg, don't believe everything you read online. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.60.178.2 (talk) 16:25, 13 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Place of death

[edit]

Is it possible to include the place where Joey died? 73.167.238.120 (talk) 21:23, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, as long as it is completed by reliable sources. No self-published and social media sources. Add the info in #Illness and death and fill in |death_place= in the infobox. Oroborvs (talk) 21:52, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
What is the place of death though? Thanks! 73.167.238.120 (talk) 22:05, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
None of the sources I can find say where, likely out of respect for the family. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 16:02, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
