Etymology

[edit]

The name itself is a patronym of the given name John, literally meaning "son of John". The name John derives from Latin Johannes, which is derived through Greek Ἰωάννης Iōannēs from Hebrew יוחנןYohanan, meaning "Yahweh has favoured".[1]
