[edit]Eclecticology, before 57, I believe awards were given for b/w and color costumes. How do you think we should cover that? Danny
Hmmm!! The problem did cross my mind, and it is even bigger with some of the other categories where this happens. Separate articles would make no sense. That being said I tend to favour the format that emphasizes putting the awards in each sub-category together.
Thus: Costume Design - Black-and-White
- 1948
- 1949
- ...
- 1956
Costume Design - Color
- 1948
- 1949
- ...
- 1956
Costume Design (Combined Category)
- 1957
- ...
This stikes me as superior to Costume Design
- 1948 Black-and-White
- 1948 Color
- etc.
PS: I almost didn't see your message, since the only attention that I had put to this category was to disambiguate Henry V. We both seem to be all over the map in working on the Academy Awards. May I suggest that we start moving this kind of general application or "committee" discussion to Talk:Academy Awards
OK, I give up
[edit]One of the two films set in modern times to win an award is Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. What is the other one? Amandajm (talk) 05:35, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

Contemporary-set winners
[edit]I left a "see talk page" edit summary on this article, but I haven't actually provided the comments on the talk page. Now I'm doing so. I had been concerned that the source which had been cited had failed to identify which contemporary-set films won the Best Costume Design Oscar since the black and white and color categories were merged, and that All That Jazz had been omitted from that group. I later found a source which listed the contemporary-set winners and which included All That Jazz in the group, and have since added it to the article. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 02:16, 6 September 2017 (UTC)
