Hello,

Nice additions to George Augustus Robinson. Just curious though, did you contact the State Library for permission to use the photo? I'm asking not so much because I'm trying to police copyright violations, but more because there are some other images in the library that would be nice to use.Bkonrad 15:10, 28 Feb 2004 (UTC)

I would think the 50+ rule would apply, but copyright law is taking strange turns in the digital age. I mean, the library could conceivably consider the scanned version of the photos as a separate publication of the image. Or they could be considered to be under crown copyright, which I no even less about than U.S. copyright. Caught me red handed

The temptation was too great! I was looking at the "famous cricketers" from Tasmania and remembered that, in an article I edited for David Hookes, William Kirkman had figures of 29-0-164-1 at Adelaide in 1987 when David Hookes made 306* and Wayne Phillips 213*. • NPOV - I note the comment you left when removing the POV dispute template. It's not that I am shy, I would go ahead and edit the article if I thought it was my business to do so. What I would have preferred is for the person who wrote the non-neutral text to stop and take a dispassionate look at it. Have pointed him to the commons, and left links to What_Wikipedia_is_not. I think that's why this is bugging me so much - there's a fundamental misunderstanding of what this site is. He seems to think it is like http://dmoz.org/ and that it his right to have his site here. This link should be here based on its encyclopedic value. Tasmanian categories: please use only the most specific

hi, please be careful to keep only the most specific categories for articles in a vertical dimension, e.g. List of Tasmanians needs to only be in category:People of Tasmania, but not also in category:Tasmania (because the former is already a subcategory of the latter), see Wikipedia:Categorization#Guidelines for assignment of categories. thanks. clarkk 6 July 2005 10:20 (UTC)

no problem. the basic idea is to be frugal in the "vertical" dimension (i.e. keep in the most specific "lowest" sub-category) but be generous in the "horizontal" dimension (e.g. category:History of Tasmania is under category:History of Australia and category:Tasmania). of course the category system doesn't form a strict hierarchy or tree, so there are exceptions, but it makes it cleaner if we stick to a tree-like hierarchy and only deviate from it for a good reason. clarkk 6 July 2005 10:50 (UTC)

Lecture critique?

I saw that you removed my addition to Outsourcing. I added a comment about it. As I mentioned, I'm an author, not a consultant. Was there something specific in that lecture which you thought did not belong? My coauthor and I would appreciate any feedback that you have -- if there's something factually incorrect in it, we'll ask our publisher, O'Reilly, to publish an errata and we'll post it on the companion website for our book.

Un-notable film?

Have you seen the film? Mike Gordon is a rock star and his work should be up here. Aren't you supposed to put a warning up first before you delete something? I am going to put it back up because I know it is notable. Check Phish's website and look for the film there. You may learn something.

Yes the film may be minor, but doesn't the creator have any weight to it? There are too many instances I can think of where a product of an artist may not be the greatest, in some people's opinions, but the work is still refrenced. Rising Low

You should remove the flag on the Rising Low article. This movie, as well as Outside Out, fit the criteria to be submitted as an article. When you foreigners get the intelligence to develop a technology that the world uses, you can begin to impose your foreign spellings on us. Until then, when you are dealing with American technology, on American web sites, you should use modern American words. Wikipedia is an American web site hosted in America, and C# is an American technology, developed by Microsoft, an American company.

I do hope you dont take it personally, but I still disagree with your comments re Tas People - but wont let that get in the way! I will let the Chris Koch article be a lesson in itself - you said it was a red link - take it out, and there when I start it - he's an OA, 2 x major award winner, books about tas, as well as the Year of... There are other tasmanians who have similar situations - they simply havent had arts about them yet! And they will get on the list, and it will stay! Yes?

As for richard, I was not focusing on the drama issue (god could I tell you a story or two about the puppet people of hobart of years ago!!) - but the book - and a lot of the issues that arise out of that, but to do that art - another couple of months again!. You may well take him off the list if you wish, but that dosnt decrease other issues relative to an expanded article.

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment.
