Hi, I'm Ahkond. I'm a computer programmer in Massachusetts, where I grew up. I have a doctorate in mathematics but I have not been involved in math since 1993.

I do a lot of style clean-up (spelling, typos, grammar, usage, etc.) as I browse articles, but I have also created or rewritten a small number of articles here and there.

My user name is a reference to a nonsense poem called "The Akond of Swat" by Edward Lear, which in turn refers to a historical figure from Pakistan (when I chose the name I did not know this; I am not Pakistani). Some editions of this poem spell it "Ahkond", and long usage has stuck me with that spelling. I've been using the nickname in various on-line contexts since about 1990.
