Steak and Blowjob Day
[edit]I'm finding conflicting reports about this holiday...even here on Wikipedia. Some claim that it's March 20 while others claim that it's March 14. It's not terribly important, seeing as it's not even an official holiday...but if anybody knows exactly when it is that would be helpful. Thanks --Ally525 17:33, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
- Perhaps the important part is deciding if it needs to be mentioned on ANY date. There's been a pretty considerable tug-of-war with it here. Joyous | Talk 17:43, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
- Well, true. I don't know, I'm pretty new to how things work on here. --Ally525 17:49, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
- its march 14, exactly 1 month after valentines day. because Steak and BJ day is supposed to be the "man's valentines day." ...Patrick (talk, contributions) 09:09, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- The article has been deleted and it is far too trivial to feature on a Day article. Lkjhgfdsa 0 (talk) 00:04, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
Stephen Colbert Day
[edit]I believe my previous entry RE: Stephen Colbert Day was deleted. I have reposted with a reference.
Stephen Colbert day will occur March 20, most likely annually. The observance was started in reponse to a lost bet my Oshawa mayor John Gray. There is no official noted way to celebrate. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 204.40.1.129 (talk) 18:15, 20 February 2007 (UTC).
- According to the city council agenda for the meeting where the motion was passed, it's a one-off; 2007 only. [1] So even if it were notable enough mention here, it doesn't qualify to be listed under "Holidays and Observances," becuase it's not annual. Wikipedia:WikiProject Days of the year states "Items listed under "Events" should be notable on a global scale." So it shouldn't go there, either. -- Vary | Talk 16:19, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
I say it be included until next year before then it is unknown if it will be celebrated annually. As far as this not being an global event, the Colbert report is seen in many countries around the world, so how doesn’t it qualify?Boatman666 13:06, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
- Read my post above. It is not an annual event. The city council documents clearly specified March 20 2007 only. And it doens't qualify as global because, while there may be people in other countries who are aware of the date, it was only a holiday in one city. -- Vary | Talk 13:22, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
But do all holidays require a government mandate to be celebrated, is that part of the determining criteria? Just because the holiday is not celebrated by the city council is no reason to discount it. I say we wait until next mar 20 to determine if it is a anual event. As far as the need for something to be global to be event, there are things on that list that have little consequence to the world at large.Boatman666 23:34, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
- If you mean wait until next March 20 to see if it merits inclusion then, good idea. If you mean leave it in until next year on the off chance that it will gain some notability, I'm sorry, but that's just not how we do things here. If there's no proof it should be in the article right now, then it shouldn't be there. If and when there is evidence that it does meet our inclusion guidelines, then you can bring that evidence here. But WP:ILIKEIT isn't going to cut it. This has been discussed extensively here and elsewhere. I think the matter needs to be let go for now. -- Vary | Talk 00:17, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
It is far too trivial to be on a Day article. This an an encyclopedia, not a collection of trivia made up by comedians. Lkjhgfdsa 0 (talk) 00:04, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
Id-E-Milad (Muhammed's birthday)
[edit]This is not an event and it should be removed. Could be placed in Holidays and Observances.192.35.35.34 (talk) 14:42, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Ostara
[edit]Yes, Mabon is a Neo-Drudic/Celtic & Wiccan holiday, but Ostara is a Germanic holiday (along with also being a Wiccan holiday). Wicca recognizes both Celtic & Germanic holidays in their Wheel of the Year. I'm not exactly sure how this should be noted/worded without being too messy & complicated.JanderVK (talk) 13:50, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
Births and Deaths
[edit]Continuing the ongoing effort to reduce the size of the Births and Deaths sections to make them manageable, I'm removing some celebrities with few or no articles in other wikipedias, moving the entries to the appropriate Year in Topic article if they were not already present. This is in accordance with the guidelines. See discussions at Wikipedia_talk:Days_of_the_year. Deb (talk) 16:26, 27 March 2016 (UTC)
Great American Meatout Day

1915 - Albert Einstein publishes his general theory of relativity?
[edit]I'm puzzled by the claim: "1915 - Albert Einstein publishes his general theory of relativity".
The General relativity article doesn't mention a 20 March publication date, saying only, "After numerous detours and false starts, his work culminated in the presentation to the Prussian Academy of Science in November 1915 of what are now known as the Einstein field equations, which form the core of Einstein's general theory of relativity."
And Albert Einstein#Publications says, "Einstein, Albert (1915) [Published 25 November 1915]. "Die Feldgleichungen der Gravitation" [The Field Equations of Gravitation] (Online page images). Sitzungsberichte 1915 (in German). Berlin, Germany". JezGrove (talk) 14:29, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
- the date is 25 of March, not 20, and is not in the article! something is wrong here, here are some source: https://www.discovermagazine.com/the-sciences/einsteins-discovery-of-general-relativity-1905-1915 and the "100 anniversary" was dated March 25, 2015 Barrabas11 (talk) 04:43, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
- The article Albert Einstein has a reference to this New York Times article - https://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/24/science/a-century-ago-einsteins-theory-of-relativity-changed-everything.html - which states "And on Nov. 25, 1915, he set down the equation that rules the universe.".
- @Vadim Galimov: - do you have any other reference to back up your recent changes here and at General relativity? Cheers, Kiwipete (talk) 01:35, 27 March 2022 (UTC)
- Please note that the Nov. 25, 1915 and the March 20, 1916 dates refer to completely different events, both notable. The latter is supposedly the day on which his paper was published in Annalen der Physik - this claim can be found in many sources, notably Haaretz and Wikipedia's very own Facebook page.
- There's definitely a lot of confusion on what occurred when and what's to be seen as more "important" in terms of the general theory first being made public, hopefully someone can make heads or tails of this. Vadim Galimov (talk) 09:52, 28 March 2022 (UTC)
