On 31 January 2023, it was proposed that this article be moved to William Pitt the Elder. The result of the discussion was no consensus.

Positivity?

The first few paragraphs are exclusively positive... I mean, was he really so perfect? If he was alive I would have thought he was the one who wrote it... surely there can be some sort of balance, as it currently reads like a puff piece... 80.42.137.100 (talk) 02:10, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Highland regiments

Pitt the Elder seems to be credited largely with the idea of raising the Highland regiments, as a way of pacifying the Highlands further by diverting "wild" Scotsmen away from Jacobite rebellion and into military service to the empire. But our article on him doesn't say anything about this.
