Non-free rationale in David Copeland
[edit]Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws, and the stricter requirements of Wikipedia's non-free content policies, because:
- It is an historically significant image of the April 1999 bombings, released to the media by the family and widely reproduced by newspapers and television.
- Its inclusion in the article adds significantly to the information it provides the reader, providing the only image we have of any of the bomber's victims. The couple were at the Admiral Duncan pub in Soho celebrating the news that they were expecting a child. They were in the pub with their best man and another friend, both of whom were also killed.
- It is lower resolution than the original. Copies made from it will be of inferior quality.
- There is no realistic possibility of obtaining a free equivalent. Trying to obtain one would involve finding a way to contact the parents of the deceased and explaining our byzantine image policies to them.
- The image has no monetary value.
