www.momsen.org

[edit]

Back on 15 Feb 2004, The Epopt said, "The Web site http://www.momsen.org/ is appears to be devoted to Momsen, but uses non-standard HTML extensions that prevent the Mozilla/Netscape family of browsers from navigating it."

It seems to work OK for me, running Mozilla 1.7.5 on Mac OS X.II.VIII. Not that there's all that much there.
This web site is dedicated to my grandfather, Charles Bowers Momsen, who left the world a better place when he passed away in 1967.
:
I also dedicate this site to another Momsen, my father, Charles Bowers Momsen, Jr., who attended the Naval Academy and graduated in 1942. He received the Elmer Sperry Award from the Department of Transportation of the United States Government for his part in the development of the Alvin submarine.
:
If you have a story to tell about my father or grandfather, please write me at HelenHart@embroideryline.net and I will add it to this sea story - and it will make the telling all the better.
Helen Hart Momsen
That first sentence had me reflexively looking for the "Edit this page button". :-)

Firefox still can't handle it — if you view source, you will see abominations such as
<applet code="fphover.class" codebase="_fpclass/" width="120" height="24">
  <param name="text" value="Sea Stories">
  <param name="color" value="#000080">
  <param name="hovercolor" value="#0000FF">
  <param name="textcolor" value="#FFFFFF">
  <param name="effect" value="glow">
  <param name="url" value="interest.htm" valuetype="ref">
</applet>

Presumably, there is something of interest at "interest.htm" (and some sort of terribly kewl "glow" effect as you click there) but before I read source to find URIs to type into the address bar, I've got lots of pages on submarine losses to translate from the Russian language. ➥the Epopt 04:58, 16 Feb 2005 (UTC)
