Talk:Tragic flaw
Appearance
Why was my contribution deleted without comment by an anonymous person? It may be true that what I wrote belongs more in a "hamartia" article than a "tragic flaw" article. But I suggest that you look at modern English translations of The Poetics for discussions of hamartia, tragic flaw, and how right or wrong Aristotle was about things. I'm going to put back what was deleted for now.
What do you think about the article currently utilising Oedipus as an example of a character with "no clearly identifiable tragic flaws?" It seems to me that Oedipus' dogged refusal to ignore the direction of his inquiry - ignoring Jocasta's warnings to him - may serve as a tragic flaw. jglc | t | c 18:18, 15 July 2005 (UTC)
- Especially given that Oedipus is the second example given on Tragic hero of a Tragic Hero. jglc | t | c 18:25, 15 July 2005 (UTC)
